“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” – John Wooden
In our society today, there is a big emphasis on appearance-clothes, hair, body, nails, shoes, etc…the list goes on. Society’s obsession over body image has has been a major cause for the increase in bullying.
Every seven minutes a child is bullied. Being a huge problem throughout America, it it can be very difficult to stop bullying from happening. As we continue to look for ways to terminate the act of bullying, we can first simply address those of whom are being bullied and we can try to come up with a plan to try to stop it from affecting their lives.
If you are being bullied, as hard as it may be, don’t let the bully break you. Know your assets and be confident in yourself! Love yourself, love your flaws and believe in who you are. It’s those flaws that makes you – you!
It’s impossible to satisfy everyone. There will always be someone out there who has something negative to say about you. So remember that no matter what, you are bigger and more important than any criticism that a bully says about you.
Remind yourself how little there opinion about you means. Who cares what they think? Who are they to make me you feel like you are not good enough? Most of the time, they are saying those mean things to you because they don’t feel good about themselves.
Don’t let the babble of others’ opinions silence your own belief of who you are.
Remember that no one knows you better than you know yourself. Keep your chin up and just remember – that at the end of the day who you are is totally and completely up to you.
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Steve Jobs
